Koperasi NLFCS

The post-independence economic landscape of the 1960s presented significant challenges for the Indian community in Malaysia. Rising unemployment and mass evictions occurred as European-owned rubber estates were sold to local buyers who subsequently fragmented and sold the land for profit. This situation left many estate workers displaced and without economic security.

In response to this growing crisis, the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), under the visionary leadership of the late Tun Dr. V.T. Sambanthan, together with a group of concerned citizens, established the National Land and Finance Cooperative Society (NLFCS). This initiative was designed to offer estate workers a pathway to land ownership, economic stability, and long-term empowerment.

The formation of NLFCS stands as a landmark effort in promoting socio-economic upliftment and preserving the dignity and livelihood of Malaysian Indian estate workers.
