Organised by the MIC National Health & Medical Bureau in Collaboration with MIC Youth and MIC Brigade<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A national-level mental health awareness programme titled “Protecting Youths\u2019 Mental Health” was successfully held at Nethaji Hall, MIC Headquarters, organised by the MIC National Health & Medical Bureau in collaboration with MIC Youth and MIC Brigade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative aimed to raise critical awareness among young individuals, especially university and college students, on the importance of mental health and the long-term effects of unmanaged stress and depression. The programme provided participants with practical knowledge on emotional management and stress-coping techniques, which are essential in navigating the complexities of modern youth life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. T. Novalan M.D, Central Working Committee Member of MIC and Chairman of the MIC National Health & Medical Bureau, emphasized that mental health challenges among youth must be addressed proactively to prevent serious consequences such as burnout, addiction, violence, and even suicide. He highlighted that this programme is part of a broader effort to equip the younger generation with the tools and awareness necessary for maintaining mental wellness in their daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special screening session was also conducted to assess participants\u2019 levels of depression, anxiety, and stress. This assessment served as a valuable tool for early detection and offered participants a clearer understanding of their current mental well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative is in line with the vision and guiding principles of MIC President Tan Sri Dato\u2019 Seri Dr. SA Vigneswaran, who has consistently emphasised the importance of health, welfare, and education as core pillars of community development. MIC remains steadfast in its commitment to the well-being of the Indian community, regardless of the circumstances or challenges faced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mental health awareness campaign will be expanded to every state in the near future, ensuring wider reach and sustained impact. MIC strongly believes that mental health awareness must begin early to build a supportive and conscious society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
